Why does Ernie Els, a tireless globetrotter, is keen to curtail his travel schedule?

Ernie Els came to a small Pacific Ocean island all the way from Florida for launching his 2010 PGA Tour season. Even for a tireless globetrotter like Els, it appears like a really long way to make it for just one tournament, namely the Sony Open.

Probably among the most global golfers of his generation, Ernie Els now sounds as though he wants to cut down his travel schedule even as he looks to pursue trophies and attractive appearance money all over the world. Since he was back to the Match Play Championship he has featured in at least a couple of tournaments in Asia – Qatar, Dubai, and India one time. This year though, the busy the South African has decided not to leave America.

Having moved from London, the 40-year-old golfer is now totally involved at his new south Florida home. He loves to be with Samantha, his 10-year-old daughter, and Ben, his 7-year-old son, who is making progress with autism. Els as quoted as saying, “This year I am not going to travel around as much. I’m not sure going to the Middle East, so that I can play a bigger schedule in the U.S. through the Masters.”

Instead of Dubai and Qatar, the Big Easy intends to spend time at Torrey Pines and Riviera. Then there’s Pebble Beach on his agenda before he heads to Arizona for the much awaited Match Play. Later, he goes to Florida and play the entire swing barring Tampa. This would not have materialized had he not shifted to Florida.
