Time Crunch For Sandy Lyle
Sandy Lyle believes that time is running out on his bid to be Europe’s Ryder Cup captain. Lyle made his debut on Champions Tour earlier this month. But since the Ryder Cup was not scheduled to be staged in his native Scotland until the year 2014, he believed his chances of captaining the European team in the biennial matches against the United States were gradually becoming less. He was keen to be the captain.
He said that his timescale is the next two years. When the Ryder Cup will be held in Scotland, he would be totally out of the scenario and players would probably tend to forget him. Woosnam had selected Lyle as one of his vice captains for the 2006 victory against the US at the K Club in Ireland. He voiced his wish to see his schoolboy contender succeed Faldo in 2010. he really feels that it would be a shame if Sandy was not given the chance to captaincy. He feels that Lyle deserved to get the captaincy and he really felt so from the core of his heart. He justified his stance by saying that he was the first one from the UK to win a Masters. Also he has done a lot for golf in Britain and Europe.
