The Copperhead Course is considered one of the best courses
The Copperhead Course at the Westin Innisbrook Resort in Tampa Florida is considered to be one of the best golf courses on the PGA Tour. It is not the classic Florida Resort Course though. It has tree-lined fairways and there are many elevation changes that gives it a conventional look. The course is a challenging one. Golfers would require shaping the ball both ways off the tee with a range of clubs. The course also has many blinds shots, doglegs and approaches to both raised as well as sunken greens. The course ensures that only good ball strikers and shot makers win.
This par 71 course includes four par five’s, out of which only the 11th is actually reachable in two for all the players. Until the previous year the tournaments were played only in late October when the Bermuda grass was in full growth. If you have the accuracy and ability to shape the ball off the tee then you are a sure shot winner.
In 2004 the course was reconstructed in order to develop the drainage facility and change the finishing holes in order to return to the original Larry Packard design. A new tee was also added on 16. The green at 17 was extended by 40 feet and in the year 2007. The 18th was extended by 40 yards and three bunkers were added in the landing area.
