PGA Tour Changes Its Cut-Off Rules

The PGA Tour of United States has made a massive change in its cut-off rules recently. Initially the tour had a policy of top-70 and ties being able to play the weekend. But now it has decided that it will limit the numbers by putting a stipulation on the ties at the cut line. According to the new policy, there will be a restriction in the field for the weekend. It will allow for the top 70 professionals and ties, as usual, but if the number surpasses 78 players, then the number of players closest to 70 will be allowed to play the final two rounds.

So, last week only 69 nine players finished at 1-under. But even then, amongst those at even-par 140 will receive official last-place money of $9,699 and 46 points toward the FedExCup. However, they will not be allowed to tee off in the third round. Most of the players were not aware of this new cut policy. Some found it out only when they went to sign their cards. In the past players have moved from the cut line to get an entry into the top-10 over the weekend and at times even won. History can repeat itself again.
