Nick Dougherty Will Play In Milan
Nick Dougherty will play the Italian Open in Milan. He was devastated by his mother’s death only a few days ago. Brendan Taylor, the manager of Nick Dougherty’s said in a press release that his mom wanted him to go out of the way to make it to the Ryder Cup team. So even if Nick was emotionally shattered, he has decided to play the game. Nick’s mother has been a pillar of support to him and was a positive influence on his career. Nick said that he would miss her a lot.
He was in America having a joint 10th to his credit in the Verizon Heritage tournament with a round to go when he was informed that his mother was in the hospital. He and his brother rushed to her bedside while she passed away.
After the event he will take a week off, and then play the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and Wales Open at Celtic Manor. Then he will take off to prepare for the US Open at Torrey Pines in California. Dougherty could have conveniently excused himself from the pro-am at Castello di Tolcinasco on humanity grounds but only requested a late tee-off time.
