Martin Kaymer On A High
Martin Kaymer, the 23-year-old German finished a tornado three weeks in the Middle East securing a second position at the Dubai Desert Classic. He also claimed a maiden European Tour victory at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship the previous month. Kaymer said that his main aim was to secure a position at the WGC-Accenture Match Play event in Arizona at the end of February. He was not expecting to win a tournament and was elated to know that he can play in Augusta. Kaymer went up 12 places to world number 21 after he began at 76th in the beginning of the year. He also stands fifth in Ryder Cup standings. Kaymer managed to moved into third place on the Order of Merit behind Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson. He also finished 32nd in his last six events, including the seventh place at the Portugal Masters and a sixth-position finish at the season-ending Volvo Masters on his way to 41st on the Order of Merit in his maiden season. At the Emirates Golf Club he headed down the last on a high after back-to-back birdies. After he managed to avoid the lake he appropriately holed an eagle putt. Kaymer is a dedicated player is is set to reach great heights.
