How Kenny Perry endured a painful defeat at Augusta National?
The green jacket indeed would have looked nice on the veteran. When Kenny Perry’s tee shot at the par-3 16th stylishly flew toward the hole and was just within inches of rolling in there for an ace, most thought that the 48 year old golfer was set to be the oldest ever major champion in history.
“That thought was very exciting. I tried not to get ahead of myself. Yet I did. I thought ahead, though I tried very hard to stay in the moment.” Sandy Perry, his wife, stated. Even Fred Sanders, Kenny Perry’s caddie for almost the last decade or so, faced the same problem.
Sanders well knew that the 8-iron shot - over the water - to the ‘crucial’ 16th was money. “It’s over. I am thinking it is over with a handy 2-shot lead and two holes to go,” he added. “Hit two drives, down the fairway, just as we managed to do all day.”
Perry didn’t, leading to bogeys, and a sudden-death playoff with Chad Campbell and Angel Cabrera, and ultimately, a very painful defeat. He said afterward he knew he faced two difficult closing holes. “It just seems like, I can’t seem to execute, when I get down to those deals,” he added.

Kenny!!!! Looks like he has recovered since this brutal loss. He’s my bet for the PGA this year.
