Gaining more distance

These are two things that are related to distance: Clubhead speed and correct ball contact. If you have these two things together, then you are sure to gain distance. It is not a either/or situation. Both the conditions need to be fulfilled for you to have the desired results. Even though you have the fastest clubhead speed, it will not be useful unless you have a good club face contact and vice versa. If you really want to gain distance, you need to have both.

The Clubhead speed is controlled by a number of factors. They are - speed of the body rotation, speed of the arm swing and speed and timing of the hand release. Your leg drive can determine the speed of the body rotation, which in turn determines the arm swing speed. The timing and speed of the release can be determined by proper focus.

The legs are the part of the motion where strength is very important. The muscles of the upper body should not be generators but transmitters. This is why you see that even smaller players can manage a long distance shot that even stronger players cannot manage. When you swing, you need to use about eighty percent of your strength and not more than that.
