Fixing A Golf Slice

There are numerous ways in which you can slice a golf ball. The two most common ways are - failing to close the clubface in proper time and/or swinging across the golf ball. In failing to close the clubface in proper time means that the clubface is kept open when you hit the ball. This results in hitting the ball at a slight angle. The toe of the club head is farther away from the ball as compared to the heel for a right-handed player. The amount of the ball by which you slice it will basically depend on both the pace of the ball as well as the spin. Here the quick fix is to change your grasp for the clubface to come round quicker and square up before it hits the ball. This is also referred to as the ’strengthening your grip’.

In the other case where you swing across the ball from right to left then even though the clubface is straight to the ball when it is hit, the direction of path of the club head is to the left of the target. In this case there is no reason to strengthen the grip. The quick fix here would be to fine-tune your posture in order to hit the ball straight to the target instead of hitting it to the left. You will need to move your feet to point them either straight at the target, or a little to the right. All golfers have the tendency to slice. So it is important that you are ready with the quick fixes.
