Jose Maria Olazabal insists that he has not been offered to become Ryder Cup captain for Celtic Manor in Wales in two years’ tenure. He admitted that Thomas Bjorn, who is the chairman of Europe’s players’ committee, did speak to him a couple of weeks ago, but the job was not offered to him. (more…)

Spain’s Pablo Martin’s win in the Portuguese Open at Oitavos Dunes last year won him the title of being the first amateur ever to be victorious in an event on the circuit. Now he aims to imitate Aaron Baddeley at the Australian Open in 1999 and 2000 by following a win as an amateur with a triumphant defence as a professional. Martin has always been very focused. Johnson Wagner has managed to retain the lead after the third round at the Shell Houston Open where Chad Campbell Bob Estes were challengers. Wagner carded a three-under-par 69 to move to 15 under par. Wagner entered the third round with a three-stroke lead. (more…)

Sandy Lyle believes that time is running out on his bid to be Europe’s Ryder Cup captain. Lyle made his debut on Champions Tour earlier this month. But since the Ryder Cup was not scheduled to be staged in his native Scotland until the year 2014, he believed his chances of captaining the European team in the biennial matches against the United States were gradually becoming less.
