2009 PGA Golf Demo Day Review
I had the privilege of attending the PGA Merchandise Show 2009 Demo Day at Orange County National Golf Club. First of all, this facility is unbelievable. The range is a giant circle that you hit into the middle of. I have the ability to hit every driver on the market it seemed. The standout was definitely the Wilson Smooth Driver. I almost felt like Padraig Harrington when I was demoing it. The iron that felt the best was the Callaway X-22 iron. It has the forgiveness of a Callaway Big Bertha but the workability of a Taylormade Tour Preferred iron. Hybrids were a great thing to demo because they all seem to look the same and you really need to see the trajectory of the hybrid to understand where it fits in your golf bag. The winner for me of this category was the Tour Edge XCG-V hybrid. This hybrid, although expensive is the best of any hybrid out there. It almost feels like you aren’t even hitting the golf ball when you make contact. The fairway wood winner for me was the new Nike SQ Dymo 3 wood. This club was forgiving and long… very long. I was getting about 7 yards farther then my current Ping G10 3 wood. I wish all golfers had the ability to attend this demo day because not only is everyone under one tent but you have the club designer’s right there to explain the technology behind these new toys.

Great reviews!
I’m a bit surprised by your glowing review of the Wilson Smooth but I guess I shouldn’t be. Wilson is one of those companies that stay beneath the radar screen but produce great golf equipment.
